Digital receipts in hospitality: via QR code or email
In brief
The guest has paid, but the payment process is not quite complete: the receipt still needs to be printed, collected from the printer and brought back to the table.
With the Lightspeed POS system from Vendomat, guests can open their receipt directly on their smartphone or receive it by email. After payment, they simply scan the QR code displayed on the tablet. No additional app is required.
For hospitality businesses, this means fewer walking distances, faster processes and less receipt paper usage.
Payment completed, but the process is not finished yet?
During peak hours, every additional step takes valuable time. If service staff need to walk back to the printer after payment and then return to the table, the payment process remains open longer than necessary.
With a digital receipt, the process can be completed directly at the table. The guest opens the receipt on their smartphone and can save or forward it immediately.
A paper receipt can still be printed whenever requested.
Discover how the payment process itself can also be made more efficient in our article here.
Fewer walking distances for service staff
Digital receipts are particularly useful when there are longer distances between the terrace, the tables and the POS system, or when several guests want to pay at the same time.
Service staff no longer need to return to the printer and can focus on other guests sooner. There are also fewer interruptions, as receipt paper rolls need to be refilled and replaced less frequently.
This is especially helpful for businesses with:
- high guest volumes
- large terraces
- several service areas
- many payments within a short period

Our new Instagram reel shows how digital receipts work in everyday hospitality operations.
Receipts for business customers sent directly by email
For business meals, receipts are often required for expense claims or accounting purposes. Paper receipts need to be stored, photographed or scanned and can easily be lost.
With Lightspeed, the receipt can be sent directly by email. Business customers receive it immediately in digital format and can forward it internally without any additional steps.
The hospitality business also benefits: follow-up requests for lost receipts can be reduced.
Fewer receipt paper rolls, lower costs and less waste
The more receipts are provided digitally, the fewer receipt paper rolls are required. This not only reduces spending on consumables, but also the effort involved in ordering, storing, refilling and replacing them.
At the same time, less paper waste is produced. Digital receipts therefore combine more efficient processes with a more sustainable operation.
Digital receipts are just one of the many ways a modern POS system can simplify day-to-day operations. Discover further examples in our article here.
